Yuvoday Durg Doots: Empowering Youth Volunteerism for Positive Change in Durg DistrictYouth are powerful change agents in family and society – UNICEF

Durg,Yuvoday Durg ke Doots, a transformative volunteering initiative driven by the people of Durg District and supported by the District Administration and UNICEF, marked its official launch with a resounding success. The youth platform aims to promote social and behavioural change in families and society for well-being of women and children in the district. During the launch event, more than 150 people took pledge to support initiative by signing up as volunteers.


Mr Pushpendra Kumar Meena, Collector, Durg district said “Youth have the energy, ideas, and passion to create lasting change. Yuvoday Durg Doots will serve as a platform for them to channel their enthusiasm and drive social progress, making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities.”
Mr Job Zachariah, Chief UNICEF Chhattisgarh said “The launch of the Durg Doots Volunteer Program marks an important milestone in empowering youth and addressing critical community challenges. “UNICEF is committed to support adolescents and young people to sharpen skills and provide opportunities for youth through civic engagement initiatives like Yuvoday Durg ke Doots” he added. He called upon the young volunteers to work towards adapting life style for environment.


This transformative initiative aims to address five priority areas of community development in the Durg district, focusing on 1) community-based mental health, 2) adolescent well-being, 3) Village Health, Sanitation, and Nutrition Days (VHSND), 4) youth leadership for climate action, and 5) substance abuse prevention. By empowering volunteers, the program seeks to create lasting positive change and enhance the overall well-being of individuals and the Durg district as a whole. Through the youth-led platform, a cadre of youth champions and advocates will be built to promote and advocate key behavioural practices across the district. UNICEF will provide technical support to the platform.
Sri Rohit Vyas, Municiple Commisioner, Bhilai, senior district administration officials and over 200 youth volunteers of Yuvoday Durg ke doots attained the event among others.
